CHICAGO, April 18, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --Lou Sandoval, president and managing partner of Chicago-based HALO Advisory Group, has been a respected entrepreneur, a director on several boards, a keynote speaker at events, an award-winning sailor, a cancer survivor, and a devoted family man. Now, he's adding another title: author.

Sandoval's first book, "Tenacity for Life: Lessons in Life, Business, and the World Around Us", launched on April 13. The book, published by Fig Factor Media, delivers a powerful and inspiring message about perseverance, leadership, and the American Dream, based on his lifelong experiences. Throughout his career, Sandoval has encountered moments of challenge that might have stopped others. Instead, armed with tenacity and a desire to persevere, he has boldly followed his instincts, achieved impressive goals, and made an impact that has fundamentally changed multiple organizations. Sandoval's story is inspirational and written in a way that encourages others to do the same. This combination of universal wisdom and life story is entertaining and insightful, putting "Tenacity for Life," like its author, in a category of its own.

"One of the biggest takeaways from this book is how it can help you to figure out for yourself your place in the world, especially when you ask, 'What's working for me?' and 'What is my life about?'" said Sandoval. "I look at it through one of four different lenses: What does the world need? What am I good at? What am I most passionate about? And can I support myself doing it? The intersect of these four key areas is really the focus of the book." His authentic sharing of his life experiences, both high and low, transports the reader through this process.

Sandoval began journaling in high school to learn to catalog his life experiences and gain clarity of mind while growing up. He continued journaling as an adult, including challenging times when his father, who worked for more than 40 years in a steel mill and suffered from respiratory illnesses, died from prostate cancer. Sandoval also faced his own mortality when he was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and endured lifesaving treatments while in his 30s.

“Somewhere along the lines, we could say divine intervention prevailed," Sandoval said. "It was like I was tapped on the shoulder, and someone said, 'Hey, you know what? That's not the most important thing in your life. I'm going to throw this at you and you're going to see how it's going to reframe things.' No matter how bad it is, you really start to value the things that could be taken away from you in a moment's notice."

It was those powerful chapters in life that have provided him with incredible insight into how to pivot and to gain new insights while keeping things in perspective.

"I wrote about the things that were challenging to me or the things that I found to be insurmountable," he said. "This is so critical in the world we live in today where avenues like social media tend to portray only the highs in one's life, without the counterbalance of the struggle that it took to get there."

Years later, patterns emerged from his journaling, and he realized that those tough times built a foundation of who he became as a man and as a businessman.

"It may have taken a few years, but I began to see exactly why I needed to go through these episodes," he said. "When you look back at your experiences, you will make sense of it, and how it has led you to develop into who you are today and how it prepares you for the future. This is very relevant as we all reassess life during the great resignation. The great pandemic and the course of the world are calling us to reset our priorities."

Sandoval said we can all connect with someone who has lost a job or a family member, or even had a bad breakup with a boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse. However, it should not take a major life event for us to value the most important things to us—our happiness and fulfillment—and spending time with those who matter the most.

"How do you get through that? How do you persevere? Nothing's original on this planet, except for the interpretation that we add to it," Sandoval said. "This is just my interpretation that allows people to see that if they stick it out, they can make it happen. And that a little bit of tenacity really goes a long way."
